...come along with me...

She came around, awakening from her deep absorbing thoughts, to the sound of Norah Jones's unforgettable medley. The car was speeding along the highway. No certain destination, only miles ahead. Lil enjoyed driving: it gave her an opportunity to think, to concentrate.
She came out of the ward only hours ago. And she still could not get over it. Since then only questions, matters and sad truths were coming about, arising in her head. How can she make it? Will she be able to get by without support and understanding? But of course! She will get over it somehow! Where to begin and what to start with? She's tough! She'll figure out how to cope with the present situation. Besides, she intended to change her life, but didn't get around to it, so maybe this was the moment...
Do you think you can get away with it? Impossible. The truth comes out no matter how hard one tries to conceal it. The next minute she came to a decision. She will reveal her secret. After all, he has a right to know. Their future came down to him now. Lil dialled such familiar number. She spoke. He understood. But then they always got on well, as if sensing each other. And it felt amazing: as if hundreds of barriers and obstacles came apart! He offered to get together because they needed to get some unpleasant things over with.
Ahead only the brightest future, laughs and endless happiness were waiting for them. Lil pumped up the volume and pressed the accelerator harder.
...come along with me...

Once upon a time in the far-far-away land, called Studyland, there lived a Student. One cannot say he was diligent or in any way hard-working, that is why no one could get over how he managed to get away with his main duty – studies. And I must say he got away with it successfully!
In general, living in Studyland was no easy matter. A strict regime was kept there and was actually obligatory to follow, though, as it often happens, there were several studylanders who were used to playing truant and had an astounding ability to get on pretty well with the authorities of the country avoiding the punishment. But the secret way they managed to do this never came out.
Anyway, our Student was not of that kind but still he feared one thing that was little by little getting nearer and nearer. And the Student was to come up against it when the time came. Its name was the Exam Session! Every single citizen in Studyland hardly dared to talk about it and got horrified at only mentioning this wicked name. The Student knew it and he was preparing himself for this fight between him and this monstrous creature. His duty was to get it over with! The Student worked like a madman in order not to get behind with the studies because they were the only thing that could help him to get over with The Session…
The time was passing by…
At last, the Day came. The battle began.
Hands trembling, the Student came along and finally faced the huge ugly creature that hovered over the battlefield. But now when it came right to a real battle, all the Student‘s fear came out, and striking the monster with one correct answer after another our Student defeated the miserable creature and was victorious! A great feast was held in the evening and for next two months all was well and everyone was happy.

One day Little Red Riding Hood came to a decision to visit her Grandmother. She got on with her, they watched films together, in summer they walked in the forests and picked berries and mushrooms and in winter they skied and sleighed. So, they loved each other very much. Little Red Riding Hood knew that her granny adored pies, and she was eager to please her beloved Grandmother. In spite of the fact that Little Red Riding Hood hated cooking, she got the cooking over with. Then she did the room and got away. Moreover, Little Red Riding Hood was afraid of dark forests, fortunately, she got round it. She decided to call a taxi. However, it couldn’t come off; the taxi-driver was a wolf. Little Red Riding Hood couldn’t get over it. She dropped her basket with pies, and it came apart. Despite this, Little Red Riding Hood sat in the car, as she missed her granny very much, and wanted to visit her at all costs. Interestingly, the wolf couldn’t get by, so he worked up as a taxi-driver. When they came along, her grandmother saw the wolf and fainted away. But the wolf got away; he didn’t want to eat people anymore, as he came out and became old. Little Red Riding Hood ran up to her granny, and she came to herself. The girl explained to her grandmother that it was a taxi-driver and he had already gone away. However, she didn’t say that she was frightened of the wolf and that the basket came apart. Afterwards, grandmother folded Little Red Riding Hood in her arms.

When He came along as usual He found Her in Her little bed under the apple-tree. He looked at Her and smiled. She was sleeping so sweetly. Her pale petals trembled with cold. And to keep Her warm He blew at Her as gently as He could. She turned to another side and smiled to something in her dream. Yes, He could always get around it – after all He was a very tender summer Wind. But did She know that? Maybe.. But did She want to notice it? No.
Is it possible that He wanted too much from this naughty May Rose? Well, if just to get together sometimes, to take care of each other is too much…
He was always near – when She felt cold or hot, when nasty insects disturbed Her. He did His best and it always came off. He played with Her petals and She always tried to sting Him with Her thorn. He sang Her about love and She said His songs destroyed Her beauty. And His heart had just come apart when one day He saw Her coquetting with this Arrogant Tulip.
He wanted to be near Her always but She used to say that He is not suitable for Her image. Was She thinking about Her image when one day a boy picked Her from Her bush and brought to his girlfriend? Was She thinking about it when he threw it away as it came out that the girl didn’t like roses? Probably no. She just couldn’t get over how she could she threat Her like this…suddenly She felt thirsty…Her head was spinning…
When She finally came around she felt only the light breath of warm wind…She cried and called Him. She begged of Him, She wanted Him to be always near.. But how could He? He didn’t suit Her image…

Not far from the sea lived a peasant – greedy, a real miser. Once he wanted the coconuts. He took a coin and went to the bazaar. Having come along, he found the coconut counter.
- Hey, man, how much do the coconuts cost? – asked he on entering the first counter.
- Four coins, - answered the owner.
- And can you advise me the place where I could buy the coconuts at the lower price?
- -Well, - addressed he to the peasant, - just get over this fence and go to the shore. You’ll get them free of charge.
When the miser reached the palms, he came off to see a large amount of the coconuts. Unfortunately, he came across the difficulty: the coconuts hung very high. However, he got round to climb the palm and seized the coconut. But in this very moment he slid down the palm… Hanging, holding on the coconut, a peasant saw a man on the elephant. Then the miser begged for help:
- I’ll give you 10 coins if you come here with your elephant and get me off…
The man got to the elephant’s back and tried to catch the peasant’s leg… The elephant moved ahead and this time two men were hanging in the air.
- Please, keep on holding the coco and I’ll give you 10 thousand coins.
A peasant came to a decision: “if I get this money, why am I holding one coco? I’ll be able to have hundreds of them…”
In this very moment he left the coconut and both men fell into a heavy sea…

Fairy- tale
Once upon a time there was a small puppy. He was very unhappy, because he was quiet lonely. So, one day he decided to find someone, whom he could call ‘a friend’. His mother told him, that it’s very easy to make friendship and get around his loneliness. She said:’ you should be very polite, merry, kind, a bit restrained, and you shouldn’t tell everything about yourself. In this case you will get on with somebody’. One bright summer morning he left his house. And he came down to follow his mother’s advice. A chicken was the first whom he met.
-Good morning, - said our puppy. - would you like to be my friend?
-I don’t think, that it will come up, because I ‘m really very afraid of you. When the dogs are hungry they eat everything, so one day you may eat me.
- No, it can’t be so. I‘ll never eat my friend. I can’t get over it.
- But it is so. I can’t talk to you any more, I’m afraid of you,- said the chicken and came out.
I should find someone, who is not afraid of me- thought the puppy and went further. Then he saw a cat. It was an old, fat cat with a beautiful ginger wool.
- Hello, - said the puppy. - are you afraid of me?
- No, why should I? You’re so small and I have very sharp claws.
- So, then you may be my friend?
- Yes why not.
- Oh, it’s very nice. I always wanted to have a friend! Let’s have a walk together.
- Oh, no. I’m so tired- I just had a meal. Let’s do it a bit later.
After half an hour the puppy repeated his idea, but the cat was so lazy, he didn’t want to get away his warm place.
- I want to sleep, - he said. - You may sleep here with me, or you may go for a walk alone.
- But you’re my friend and we should do something together.
- We can sleep together.
- I don’t want to sleep, - replied the puppy sadly. - Good bye.
It’s not so easy to find a friend, as my mother said, - thought the puppy. They are so differ from me. He decided to go home. When he was just near the door he heard somebody’s loud barking and then he saw a little puppy, merely jumping. The puppy was so surprised; he had never seen him before.
- Who are you, - he asked a dog.
- I’m your new neighbor; do you want to play with me?
- Yes, with great pleasure!
So, from this moment our puppy wasn’t lonely anymore.

The end.

The rose and the violin.
When the rose came around first of all it saw the violin that stared with interest at it. The rose turned out to be in a pot with the water.
- who are you? – asked the rose.
- I came across to you...- said the violin not relevantly and got embarrassed. But continued – I am a creator…and you are a piece of art…
- And what do you create? – then asked the rose, with a naïve gaze.
- Music, - answered the violin, - would you like to listen to it?
- Of course… -whispered it modestly.
The admiration of the violin was so great that it just got over the beauty of the rose, this feeling was new for the violin and the emotions absorbed it, and it started to play.
The melody was so pure, romantic, frank and full of hope, that unintentionally it touched the heart of the rose, and it blossomed more than ever…
- no, you doesn’t create music, - said the rose softly, - you create life.
Just one glance, and all the feelings came out…
This is the way they lived, getting by, but it didn’t prevent them to live happily. The violin was playing, delighted by the rose, and the rose enjoyed the magic music, that it had never heard.
Everything was alright until one day a terrible misfortune came up. That day the violin as usual was playing to the rose, when it said:
- soon I am going to get away.
The sound stopped suddenly.
- why?
- The pot is too old, it slowly comes apart and there is no more water in it…soon I will fade.
The sorrow pierced the heart of the violin.
- please, play to me…I want always to keep in my mind this charming melody.
And the violin played and played and played. But however hard it tried to return life into the withered body, nothing could cure it.
And then, in commemoration of the rose, the violin tirelessly got on playing, as long as the last string broke.

Once upon a time - so it came around - there lived an ordinary man. He didn't come up with his ambitious, he hardly ever came out, just to be unsuspicious. He was once married, but his wife got him away. Our man got this little trouble over after his lasy hope came off: a certain pleasant old woman couldn't help him even with her magic. So, our man, once having come up against such a miracle, had to get on with magic by himself.
Welcome to the world of Anton Gorodetski! He got together with great magicians and wizards: cruel drivers, mysterious elecricians and charming librerian.
How could he get on with such a kind of work? No problem, sirs! A glass of blood in the morning (desirable is human blood; if you can't get away with killing people, then try the pork one), later visit your best friend (remember: your social life shouldn't come apart just because you are a vampire! oh, by the way, you best friend is a vampire, too...). In the evening you have to come to a decision: whether to have a drink or save the world? Don't forget your sunglasses!!!

Once upon a time there lived a peasant and his son. They were poor and so was the soil they ploughed working under scorching rays of sunlight every day. They got by with a bit of what they could grow up on their land just to have some food on the table.
One day the ambassador of rajah came along at their place and said that they should pay more if they want to continue growing up vegetables at this piece of land.
And the peasant implored: - For goodness' sake! We have so little to eat... How can we pay more?
- Everybody pays to not be thrown into prison! That is the order! Or... you’re a rebel? Do you want to pay for insubordination with your life?
- No, not at all! We will pay! - interrupted the son of the peasant.
- Good! - said the ambassador and left.
The father and the son got on working without saying anything. They worked ‘til the dawn came... Suddenly the plough caught on something. When the peasant approached he came across a plain grey sack. "How strange", - he thought, "why bury a sack into the ground? Well, it can be of use anyway". And he brought the sack into the house. Soon the night fell.
In the morning the peasant discovered that the sack was filled up with golden coins! Yes, it was a magic sack! It looked like a usual one covered by dust and old but it had a peculiarity: there appeared money in it...
The peasant and his son were modest and industrious and they went on working hard at the same land and living in their old house even having enough money to buy a palace. They helped the poor of the city and soon rajah got aware of their deeds. He sent his servant to find out where the peasant and his son took money from. And after that the sack was stolen.
The son of the peasant understood who was responsible for that. So the young man got into the palace secretly and took the sack back. When it came out that someone got into the treasury and guards gathered in the doorway, the peasant’s son was making his way towards the chamber of rajah. He wasn’t sure that everything he planned would come off but he had intention to revenge and kill rajah to release the people from tyranny and heavy burden of taxes...
But suddenly he met a girl. She was the daughter of rajah. She guessed about his purpose and fell down on her knees:
- Please, spare my father’s life, a good man! I see that you’ve got a kind heart so lay down your sword!
And the generous man, tamed by her beauty, had mercy on greedy rajah who was later sent to a faraway land. The young man became a new rajah and ruled country justly. And people recollected him with warm words for ages after his death.

Angelica gave birth to Caroline and happy parents began to bring their newborn daughter up. But when Caroline was 1 something came up and Angelica became seriously ill. Oliver called all the doctors of the kingdom. The doctors of neighbouring kingdoms came along as well. But none of them knew what the disease was and how to cure it. Angelica realized that she wouldn’t come around. So she came to a decision to call her husband and tell him her secret. She gave him her silver locket and told him to put it on Caroline’s neck and watch closely that she always wear it. She didn’t tell anything more. In a month Angelica died. Oliver was mourning for his dead wife for many years. He didn’t get married again and he devoted himself to his daughter. He adored Caroline, who was the speaking image of her mother.
Years went by. Caroline became 18. There lived a young man in the neighbourhood. His name was John. He was a craftsman. John was very poor, he hardly got by. But Caroline got on with him. Oliver was against their relations so they got together secretly. But after a year their relationship came out accidentally. Oliver was very angry and he locked her in her room. She was indignant. She screamed and hammered on the door, but nobody opened it. She became furious. Transported with rage she tore her locket off and flung it to the floor, so that it came apart. At the very same time Caroline became seriously ill. She lay on her bed with her eyes closed and couldn’t move. Oliver learnt about it and understood everything at once. The locket was miraculous. But nobody in the palace could repair it. So Oliver announced: that one who repair the locket will marry Caroline. John learnt it and came to the palace. Oliver got angry when he saw a poor craftsman and he wanted to banish him, but decided to give him a chance. Oliver took his tools and began to work. In two hours the locket was repaired. Oliver put it on Caroline’s neck and she came round at the very same time. Oliver was happy and he kept his word: Caroline and John got married and lived happily together.

Not exactly a tale, not exactly mine)

The Thief Lord.
Once upon a time there lived a boy. He lived in the biggest house, in the most picturesque street of the most beautiful city in the world. He was very rich, he had everything a child of his age (and he was 13) could dream of. Everything except freedom. The boy’s father was a very cruel man who wouldn’t allow his son to go out of the house and who treated him like a servant. Only at nights could the boy breath in the fresh air of freedom while wandering about the city wearing a mask and a black coat and calling himself the Thief Lord. He befriended with several homeless orphan children. They often got together in the abandoned theatre The Stella. The children got by with selling things the Thief Lord had stolen for them (they didn’t know he stole these things from his own house, nor did they know the Thief Lord was rich). They all got along and lived happily. But deep inside the Thief Lord knew: that wasn’t enough for him. He wanted to become a grown-up.
During one of his night-walks, the boy came across a mysterious old man, the Count. He offered a great sum of money to the Thief Lord it he would steal a certain Wing for him. That’s where the Thief Lord came up against a problem: his friends were in desperate need of money, but the thought of robbing someone (something he’d never done before) made him feel ill at ease. But his friends were more important to him, as for robbing someone, well, he could get away with it. Somehow. So they – the Thief Lord and the Count - had an accord.
But the robbery didn’t come off – the Thief Lord was caught by the owner of the Wing, a middle-aged woman called Ida. She couldn’t get over the fact that the robber was in fact a boy. So she forced him to tell everything. He did so, though very reluctantly. To his surprise, Ida sympathized with him and his friends. She knew what it was like to be an orphan, she was an orphan herself.
- Still, I don’t understand why the Count would want my Wing. There’s nothing special about it. Though, there is a legend…
- What legend? – The Thief Lord pricked up his ears.
- Well, the nun in my orphanage, the one who gave me the Wing, said it was a part of some magical merry-go-round - if you have a ride, you can become either an adult or a child, depending upon the direction you take. I’m pretty sure that is an old wives' tale. I don’t know why I kept this Wing. You can have it, you and your friends need it more then I do. Farewell, Thief Lord.
...He was running down the streets, the Wing in his hands, pressed against his pounding heart. Did he just find the way to make his dream come true?..

Once upon a time, in a very big city, there lived a fair maiden. She had a happy life until her parents divorced. Nowadays it is a typical situation, but to that fair maiden it seemed that her entire life was coming apart. The fair maiden decided to stay with her father, because her mother left for Pretoria and the fair maiden did not want to live in the Republic of South Africa. Quite soon her father married a Miss World, and that made her Missis World. She was a perfect beauty. Missis World did not like the fair maiden because of her incredible grace, but of all this her husband was quite unaware. He thought that his wife and his daughter were getting on well.

One day Missis World invited the fair maiden to a party on the roof of a sky-scraper. She said to her that many famous people were getting together there. The fair maiden was far from suspecting that her step-mother was going to commit some evil deed. So, the fair maiden came along. There was not anyone but her step-mother. And she hit the fair maiden on the head with a heavy frying pan. When the fair maiden came round, she found herself in front of a TV set. She turned it on and saw her «Missis World». She said to her, «Let’s get it over with. I detest you. That’s why it would be better for you to stay on the roof. Otherwise I will finish you off. There is no way for you to get away from this sky-scraper. I said to your father that you had left for Pretoria and that you would stay there forever. So, the subject of your absence will never come up. And don’t worry; I will get away with it». And Missis World had a sinister splutter of laughter. After such a speech the fair maiden couldn’t get over it. She was shocked.

Then the fair maiden turned off the TV and looked around. She saw a fridge. Food! The fair maiden understood that the whole situation wasn’t bad at all.
Little by little the fair maiden ate all the provisions. That drove her to despair and she came to a tough decision. Se was determined to die of starvation. Suddenly she saw a helicopter. It landed on the roof of our fair maiden. An African prince got out of it and said to the maiden, «Be my wife». She accepted his proposal and became an African princess. That’s how she came out of her prison.

Missis World was strictly punished (left on the roof of a sky-scraper without a crust of bread).

And yes, our African prince and princess lived happily ever after and died in one day.

Ten steps to the starlight.
(by Tanya Rudakova)
There was a young fellow, called Richard. He tramped around the country. He didn’t have his own home, he got around it. He stayed in different hostels, hotels or was an intruder. He didn’t have a job with income. He got by with the money from his father’s heritage. Richard’s father had presented him a guitar, which became to Richard the embodiment of his father’s love and care. The young fellow came against different troubles: the death of his parents came up, whose murderer got away with the crime and was at large for many years. He was getting on inquiring into the matter till Richard got the detection over with and locked up the offender. After that, Richard came to a decision to get away from his country and travel around the world. That’s how he came along at Starlight- a very mysterious village. During the conversation with the old woman, who had sheltered him for a week, it came up that in the village lived a witch- a girl of incredible grace and charm, whose green eyes lured and befuddled. But the dwellers hadn’t seen her for years.
Richard liked to feel isolation. The marvelous, green, thick forest, which situated within walking distance of ten steps from the house. He was playing his guitar, sitting on the grass under the starlight, and suddenly saw a snake near the path. He made ten steps and noticed a young girl of incredible grace and charm. She was breathing hardly. The snake had bitten her. Richard took her to the village. The old woman gave her an antidote. The girl came around. It came out to Richard that this beauty was supposed to be a witch. But why? Envy and slander? She was a real angel. He understood that he fell in love with her….
He went in her room on the next morning to find out that the stranger had come out. He saw only a silver bracelet with her name- Alison. His heart came apart. After 10 days of searching he left Starlight. He couldn’t get over this loss. He’d lost the breath of life.
Ten years passed. Rich decided to visit Starcity with his friends. They travelled there by bus. They were driving near the forest and suddenly the bus broke down. The problem came about to be serious and the driver couldn’t repair it. The travelers made a bonfire and surrounded it. Richard was playing his guitar. Then he came across Alison again! She was sitting here, in front of him!
“How did you find me, Alison?”
“I’ve heard your music”
She gave him her hand. The starlight was incredibly bright. They approached her house: wooden and shabby.
“That’s the cover.” Alison whispered. “Only kind heart could see the inner world.”
They made another ten steps and Richard was taken aback by the splendid picture appeared in front of him. This house was a marvelous palace, shining like a star. They entered and Richard saw his mother, father. They seemed to be waiting for him. He felt really happy and calm, like he got around something important. But… He looked at his hand… There was a bite of a snake.

Oh, no. This is not a fairy tale. It’s nothing but evendown truth. But sometimes even mafia stories come to a happy end. But, of course, it always comes down to the stroke of luck. Do you know how the system works? It’s not like some people get together to pinch somebody. It is much more complicated, much more dangerous. There is always one who is in charge and some who are to see to it that everything comes off perfectly. Then they come along to the Boss and make a kind of report: if there are any problems they are coming up against, if any trick came out and who is getting behind. And one has to be sure – no one can get away with being a burden to the “family”.
This time is was Tony who didn’t manage to get a deal over with and it came apart. He tried to busk for defence, he was a nice guy, got on well with a couple of capo regimes… but he was just a soldier, what could he do? Thus, he comes back home, then BANG! and his mind is blank. When he came round he saw nothing and for a long time Tony couldn’t get over with it.
- It came up you are not doing well, Tony…
Never before he came across that voice but he knew whom it belonged to at once.
- You must be thinking you are already dead. But I’ll give you a chance to get away and get by with your failure.
- I beg your pardon, Boss, but I’m not sure I got right what you're getting at…
- I’ve always wanted to know if there is any higher power up there, kind of God Almighty… I’ve been thinking a lot, so now I’m ready to get around. I want you to play cards with me, you win – you go home, otherwise…
As you all have understood, Tony won. Nobody knows how it came about their Boss got that philosophical but it was a smile of fortune for Tony. And it is not a fairy tale. It’s nothing but evendown truth.

Once upon a time there lived a girl called Mary. She lived with her stepmother Dominique Blatt , a retired pop star . Mary was a daughter of a back up dancer for Dominique but her mother died and so Dominique took Mary in to do housework. Dominique had two ugly daughters who weren't the 'brightest crayons in the box' and hated Mary. It's really nice to get together and to live with people you get on with, but that wasn’t their case)). Mary lived in the guest house by the garage. One day she was folding the laundry and was watching a news report on Joey Parker- international pop sensation and teen hottie. The interview revealed that Joey was returning home to Los Angeles/Hollywood to finish his senior year of high school and was taking a break from the celebrity life. That was the same high school Mary and her stepsisters Diana and Brianna went to. The report also stated that Joey Parker and his label were sponsoring a dance competition and the winner would dance with him in his next music video.
The next morning Mary woke up and was picked up by her best friend Tami in the “great pumpkin”, Tami's large orange vintage van. They were talking about their future, Tami’s dream was to be a famous designer and Mary wanted to go to Manhattan School of Performing Arts to be a dancer. As they drove up to school Mary was doubting her future and her dancing abilities.
After school, Mary went to a dance studio and sneaked into a back room that revealed a room that could “see” into the dance room adjacent to it but on the other side all you could see was a mirror. There were students stretching as they waited for their dance lesson. Mary had been taking dance lessons on the other side without anyone suspecting. Clearly Mary had much better dancing skills than anyone in the room. But she was too shy to come out, so nobody knew about her talent. That day she felt really miserable and was about to cry, but suddenly she noticed an announcement about the spring ball at school. It wasn’t an ordinary ball, it was a masked ball. She thought it was her chance, but when she came home, Dominique was so angry that she ordered Mary to clean all the house and her Bedroom.
The room was disgusting. Mary even found their lost dog Manson who'd been gone since Christmas in Dominique's pile of clothes and set him free as the doorbell rang with Tami at the door with their dresses. Tami had brought help in the form of a cleaning company owned by her sister's boyfriend's cousins. Tami and Mary entered the ball looking absolutely stunning. Diana and Brianna tried to look for Joey, but that was a masked ball so no one knew who anyone was. Mary and Joey were talking at the punch bowl. Joey asked Mary to dance and she gave her i-pod to the DJ. A tango started playing and they started dancing. Mary showed off her dance skills and Joey was surprised. Then Diana and Brianna dropped a bowl of m&m's to make Mary fall, that was really humiliating and it was hard to get over it, and the clock started to ring fifteen minutes to twelve and Mary ran out of the ball but she dropped her i-pod. Joey grabbed it.
The next morning at school people were buzzing about the mystery girl with Joey. Then as the announcements came on, Joey was then on the announcements. He claimed that last night dancing was one of the best dances of his life and that he needed to find that mystery girl. Then he said :”if you are the mystery girl tell me the top four most played songs on your i-pod”. Mary was in shock. At lunch girls were waiting in line but none of them were the one obviously and Joey started to get discouraged.

Next day Dominique organized a pool party and of course a popular teen star was also invited .Mary was only serving food when she noticed Joey. She ran out with her radio and played it loudly by the pool. It was the song they were dancing to at the ball. Joey heard it and looked out the window to see Mary standing out in the cold. When he finally came around he walked out realizing Mary was the one; and definitely her secret came out.
Joey realized that she could be his one and only and take the first prize in his dancing contest.

It is a story about four girls, who were adopted by the angriest man in the town. His name was Klimford, and he got on with the Witch. The girls were afraid of them, that is why they came to a decision to get away. They understood that if the plan came out about their escape, Klimford and the Witch would come apart them. One by one they left their rooms and set out together. Their plan came off. They decided to go to the Main Square of the town called Rummage and known for its freedom, to live without owners and become musicians there.
On the way to Rummage, they saw a lighted cottage; they looked inside and saw two robbers enjoying their ill-gotten gains. Coming up and standing on each others backs, they decided to perform for the men in hope of gaining food. Their music has an unanticipated effect; the men couldn’t get over it, ran for their lives, not knowing what the strange sound was. The girls took possession of the house, ate a good meal, and settled in for the evening.
Later that night, the robbers came along again and sent one of their members in to investigate. It was dark and he saw the eyes of the Cat shining in the darkness. He reached over to light his candle, thinking he saw the coals of the fire. The Cat’s eyes got on with shining. The robber tried to get around it somehow, but he was so scared, that he abandoned the cottage to the strange creatures who had taken it. They got away with banishing the robbers. The girls with their Cat lived happily for the rest of their days.

Once upon a time there lived a boy. His name was Naut. He was 9 and he didn’t like to go to school at all. “What for should I study, if I can happily leave without any knowledge? For example, for playing with my cars I don’t need any Maths or English!” – he thought. And his most hated topic was the phrasal verbs. Naut didn’t get on with them at all and when he came up against some exercises connected with them he absolutely couldn’t get it over with. And when the results of his last test came out and Naut found out that he got two again, he came to a decision: to declare them war and not to do his homework. He came home, played till the evening and went to bed. 10 minutes passed before he heard strange voices:
- Now WE can taunt him! – the first said.
- Yes, we will show how important we are! – the second answered.
Naut opened his eyes and couldn’t get over: he was lying not in his bed but on the grass and two little creatures were standing near and looked at him with a grin.
- Hi, Naut! My name is Come and this is Get, - said the creature whose voice Naut heard first. – You don’t like to study at school, so we decided to show you out Verbland and teach you ourselves.
- What are you getting at? – exclaimed the boy with a fear.
- You’ll understand now, - answered Get mysteriously.
Come approached and pointed on Naut’s trousres.
- Do you see a stain on them? – he asked.
- Yes, - Naut replied.
- You can make the trousers clean if you just choose the right card.
And he showed them: one was “Come out” and the second – “Come apart”.
Naut didn’t like to think, so he said the first that came to his mind: - Come apart!
Suddenly his trousers blew up and Naut found himself in a heap of cloth pieces.
- What have you done! – he cried.
- It’s not me, it’s you! – smiled Come. – The second task.
Get gave Naut a big mirror and said: - You see, now you have a lesson at school and you are not prepared as usual. It’s 3 minutes before a break and a teacher can ask you or not. Choose the right variant, and nothing will happen. Bu if you make a mistake… So, “Get behind” or “Get away”?
That time Naut was thinking a bit longer, but he didn’t know what those verbs meant, so it was useless.
- I choose “Get behind”.
“Naut, I want to hear your answer!” – he heard the teacher’s voice and his heart sank. “You are not prepared? A two!” He saw how she put the mark, then he came home, his father opened his school record book and got angry. “I’ll give you a good lesson!” – he cried.
- Noooo!
But Naut couldn’t escape strokes from the belt. Even everything was happening in the mirror, he felt the pain in reality.
- Stop it! – he cried and the mirror disappeared.
- Now is the last task, - said Come.
- If you succeed, you’ll return home and if not – you’ll stay with us forever! – added Get.
- You see those two doors? One of them leads to your home. Choose.
Naut raised his head. Over the first door was the plate “Come out” and over the second – “Get on”. He stood for ten minutes trying to remember something and at last… - Yes! It was the only verb I’ve learned! “Get on” means to continue, so I should choose the second!
And he pushed the door with the plate “Come out”.
When Naut opened his eyes he was sitting in his bed. “Now I will do my best at studies!” – he thought. He sat till morning learning and writing and since that he never got twos and he became the best student in the class. He understood how knowledge (and especially English phrasal verbs!) are important!
